Ceiling Fans

Jerry Pybus Electric,Inc, specializes in ceiling fan installations. We regularly install ceiling fans in Panama City and the Bay County, Florida area. Our expertise will ensure your fan is installed safely and securely. And an easy way to add beauty and comfort to your home or condo.

Reduce your electric bills

Ceiling fans provide an inexpensive upgrade to your home or business. Call us to install your ceiling fans or lighted ceiling fans. This is a fast and affordable upgrade.

You will need an appropriate UL rated electric box.

This box is in the ceiling (usually in the attic area) directly above the fan. The box has all the wiring needed for your fan. Ceiling fans are usually dependant on a specific electric box. Make sure you have the correct box installed with proper wiring to it.

Buying advice: mounts and down rods.

Mounts are either standard, low profile (flush) and sloped (vaulted ceilings). Standard or extended mounts are available with most fans sold. These will allow for more air transfer than the flush mounts. However, many fans are available with low profile mounts because these are frequently needed for low ceilings and over beds and tables.

GFCI Device or Breaker

A GFCI stands for Ground fault circuit interrupter. It is an electrical wiring device that disconnects a circuit whenever it detects that the electric current is not balanced between the energized conductor and the return neutral conductor. Such an imbalance may indicate current leakage through the body of a person who is grounded and accidentally touching the energized part of the circuit.

A lethal shock can result from these conditions. GFCIs are designed to disconnect quickly enough to prevent injury caused by such shocks. They are not intended to provide protection against overcurrent (overload) or short-circuit conditions.

What areas of my house should be GFCI protected?

GFCIs should be installed in all wet locations including unfinished basements, garages, anywhere outside the dwelling, within six feet of any sink, kitchens, bathrooms, and powder rooms.

Simply put, if it can get wet and it plugs in, it needs to be on a GFCI protected circuit.

What are the buttons on my GFCI outlet for?

One button is the test button. When it is pushed, it should turn off the outlet and all other outlets that are tied to it. The other button is a reset button, which is used to turn the power back on to the outlet and any others that are tied into the outlet.

Surge Suppression Systems

Florida is the lightning capital of the country, and everyday people just like you lose their TV's, video games, appliances, and other electronic devices to power surges. The question is, how to protect yourself?

What is a power surge?

A short burst of electricity that can range from hundreds to hundreds of thousands of volts. Depending on their strength, they can degrade or destroy expensive electronic and electrical appliances.

What causes surges?

Surges are a natural by-product of having electricity. When various electrical products are turned on they create a surge. The source & the strength of that surge, combined with the presence or absence of surge protection, can have no noticeable effect to destroying various products. For example, when motors start they create a strong surge but typically do not destroy other products in your home or office. However, if a power pole was hit by a vehicle or lightning that creates a strong surge which typically causes damage. Whether the damage occurs in your home or business depends on where the surge travels after it was generated. Lightning is the most dangerous surge, and one we here in Florida are familiar with. However, utility power surges cause the most damage nationally

I have a power strip with surge protection... Isn't that enough?

While surge protector strips can protect just a few 120 volt electronic devices (computers, monitors, TV’s, etc.), a surge suppressor installed at your service panel can diffuse a power surge from ever entering the building and will provide protection for 120 volts as well as your 240 volt equipment. Many home and office owners have a false assumption that surge protection is simply a matter of plugging their devices into a low-cost, multi-outlet surge suppressor. These devices often fail, while a surge suppressor is much more reliable and provides greater protection.
